Free software

As a public institution, we have a strong commitment to society and the common good. Therefore, we encourage in our research service: free software, responsible behavior and environmental awareness policies.

Free software means software that respects users’ freedom and community. Roughly, it means that the users have the freedom to run, copy, distribute, study, change and improve the software.

Following these guidelines, we carefully assess our developments using a two-phase criteria in order to decide their free release. Firstly, we assess if it is possible for us to provide worldwide support. Secondly, we try to guess if could be interesting enough to other research services. Likewise, we also release some of our documentation and presentations under the GNU License.
