The LSI's High Performance Computing cluster belongs to the HPC systems tradition history at UPC leaded by Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) and the Mare Nostrum SuperComputer. It began on 2004 as a small group of dedicated computers for two research groups and it has become the most important computing resource for eight research groups and over 250 researchers.
Among the collaboration projects with European entities and other research centres, the RDlab belongs to the PlanetLab Europe project.
This HPC system has become a key element inside the LSI's Department to boost research and development of European and international projects. Furthermore, the RDlab's commitment with excellence in service and its location in privileged facilities inside the UPC (250m² conditioned room full equipped) make this computational cluster a leading and professional system in an University environment.
